Back:
Cast on 112 (128-144) sts and work in seed stitch. When work measures 6“/15 cm = 60 rows from cast on edge, cont in smocked pat as foll: Selvage st, rep the pat rep 13 (15-17) times, the 6 sts after the 2nd arrow, selvage st. In the 38th row = WS row = 4¾"/12 cm, dec 18 (26-34) sts evenly spaced = 94 (102-110) sts. Then cont in seed st. After 3½"/9 cm = 36 rows from smocked pat, bind off 2 (3-4) sts at beg of next 2 rows, for the armholes, and shape armholes as foll: bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows and 1 st at beg of next 10 rows, and dec 1 st on each side of the 4th foll row = 72 (80-86) sts. When armholes measure 8 (8½-9)“/20.5 (21.5-22.5) cm = 82 (86-90) rows, bind off 4 (5-6) sts at beg of next 2 rows, for the shoulders, then bind off 4 (5-6) sts at beg of next 2 rows and 4 sts at beg of foll 6 rows. AT THE SAME TIME as the 1st shoulder dec, bind off the center 28 (30-32) sts for the neck and complete the left half first, shaping neck as foll: at neck edge, in every other row, bind off 2 sts once and 1 st 2 times. Complete the right half in the same manner, reversing shaping. |
